Mark Lowe was appointed Iowa’s Director of Transportation a year ago this month. In this Two Minute State DOT Update, Lowe describes some of the biggest challenges he’s faced over the past 12 months. A career manager at the agency, Lowe gives a lot of credit for his successful transition to what he describes as a “high level of competency and excellence” within the ranks at Iowa DOT. When asked about the challenges ahead Lowe says DOTs will need to find a way of “maintaining that balance between, stewardship and modernization.” Lowe also discusses the virtual reality tools Iowa DOT is developing in-house, to make it safer and easier to train workers and share information with the public.
