This video – entitled We are TransComm – highlights the work of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Committee on Transportation Communications. Known as TransComm, this AASHTO committee is made up of a diverse and dynamic group of communication professionals from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. The committee’s objective is to promote excellence in communications through the exchange of ideas and educational programming.
TransComm also advises other AASHTO committees on communications issues and shares best practices via a regular webinar series as well as through presentations at its annual meeting. Hosted by a different state department of transportation each year, the TransComm Annual Meeting brings together public relations professionals, consultant partners, representatives of the U.S. Department of Transportation and others interested in all modes of transportation communication issues. One feature of TransComm’s annual meeting is the Skills Contest, which has evolved into a standard of public relations excellence among state DOTs. The annual meeting also continues to be a great opportunity for transportation communicators from across the country to build lasting relationships that benefit their agencies, highlight successes, and foster innovation.
