This AASHTO Transportation TV video showcases the State Department of Transportation projects from Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington State, and Wisconsin, now competing for the Grand Prize and the People’s Choice Award in the 2020 America’s Transportation Awards Competition. Sponsored by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, AAA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the competition evaluates projects in three categories: Quality of Life/Community Development; Best Use of Technology & Innovation; and Operations Excellence. 79 project nominees from 36 State Departments of Transportation, competed in four hard fought U.S. regional contests to become a finalist. An independent panel of transportation industry experts will select the Grand Prize winner, while the general public will decide the People’s Choice Award winner through online voting. Online voting starts today and it ends at 11:59 p.m. on October 25, 2020. Both top prizes come with a $10,000 cash award, for a charity or transportation-related scholarship of the winners’ choosing. The final awards will be presented at the virtual AASHTO Annual Meeting the week of November 9-13, 2020.
