National Work Zone Awareness Week is an annual spring campaign, held at the start of the roadway construction season. The meaning behind this year’s theme “Drive Safe. Work Safe. Save Lives.,” is twofold. Drivers are encouraged to prevent the often-tragic consequences of work zone crashes by slowing down, following directions on road signs and by flaggers as they approach work zones. In addition, the campaign is reminding workers to follow important safety guidelines created to prevent worker deaths and injuries. The Michigan Department of Transportation is kicking off the 2021 National Work Zone Awareness Week campaign. Learn more at www.nwzaw.org
