Sponsored by AAA, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the 2022 America’s Transportation Awards competition has presented its final two awards. This year’s contest began with 80 project nominations from 37 state departments of transportation. After four regional competitions, the 12 highest-scoring projects earned the right to compete for the final two prizes. An independent panel of industry judges selected the Grand Prize winner, and the project receiving the highest number of online votes from the public earned the People’s Choice Award. Watch as 2021-2022 AASHTO President Dr. Shawn Wilson, presents Pennsylvania DOT with the National Grand Prize and Washington State DOT with the People’s Choice Award. Wilson made the presentations at the AASHTO Annual Meeting in Orlando on October 22, 2022. Both prizes came with $10,000 checks to be presented to a charity or scholarship program of the winner’s choosing.
