Dr. John Milton of the Washington State Department of Transportation received the President’s Transportation Award for his decades of leadership in advancing transportation safety in Washington and beyond. With more than thirty five years of experience, he has helped embed Safe System principles into statewide policy and planning, including the Target Zero and Roundabout First initiatives. John has guided major safety efforts through the Highway Safety Executive Committee and serves nationally as Vice Chair of the AASHTO Committee on Safety. He has contributed to dozens of research panels and helped develop key tools such as the Highway Safety Manual. His international work through the World Road Association and the United Nations Ten Step Plan has supported the creation of life saving programs around the world.
