Middle and high school students in West Virginia competed in the 20th annual West Virginia Bridge Design & Build Contest, where they designed computer models and built balsa wood bridges that were tested for strength and load capacity in order to promote interest in engineering careers. The contest was sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Transportation and hosted by West Virginia University Institute of Technology, with winners taking home cash prizes and recognition.
