In this first segment of a new video series on Transportation TV entitled On Time with Tymon, AASHTO Executive Director Jim Tymon expresses his sincere gratitude to Congress and the President for their bipartisan support in eliminating the $7.6 billion rescission of Federal-aid highway contract authority, which was set to occur July 1, 2020. Tymon speaks frankly about the rescission, saying it represented “real money” that state DOTs were planning to put into projects this year.
Tymon goes on to say that “If Congress had not acted to repeal the rescission those projects were going to be pulled from the books.” Tymon says AASHTO’s membership which represents departments of transportation in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, made repealing the rescission a top legislative priority for the last two years.
